Fresh New Year, Fresh New Start
Happy 2018 ya’ll! I am a huge fan of new beginnings no matter what time of the year it is and look at each day as an opportunity to begin anew. Still, there is always something exciting about the beginning of a brand new year!
Reflections of The Past Year
The year of 2017 was a ROUGH one for many of us, am I right? For me, the death of my dad made it a very sad year spent adjusting to life without him. It was the most challenging year ever in my life both mentally and emotionally. There were a lot of tears but, thank goodness, also some joy and blessings mixed in. Overall it was a year of many lessons and a very strong a reminder of how precious life really is.
With that strong reminder I am welcoming 2018 with a very warm embrace and some plans to do my share of creating more joy in our world! The image above of leaping from the old year into the new one fits perfectly with how I feel!
Holding Hands, Making All Kinds Of Plans
Over the years I’ve spent many a New Year’s Eve in a whirlwind noise, excitement and good champagne. Boy, has THAT changed! LOL!
When my husband and I first married, we made it a point to create our own special traditions. A New Year’s Eve tradition was one of the first we created. Our “clubbing” days are pretty much behind us so our celebration is a lot quieter but also wonderful. An evening with great food, fine wine, a cozy, lit fireplace and some semi-pumping house music is our perfect way to bring in the New Year.
When midnight arrives we welcome it with a toast, a kiss and a little dancing. Afterwards, we sit in front of the fireplace to discuss our dreams and goals both as a couple and individually. We pledge our continuous love and support of one another. Then we get a good night’s sleep waking up in the morning refreshed and ready to start the new year. Some may think it’s a little dull (oh well), but I honestly can’t think of a better way to begin the year!
This morning, as I hold up my coffee mug in a toast, I wish you all the best, most amazing year ever filled with love, happiness and all of your dreams coming true! Cheers and hugs!
